Springer has a respected history of bringing our eResources to institutions across United States and Canada. Our eBooks and eJournals are being used in classrooms and libraries, laboratories and living rooms, in order to meet essential teaching and research needs. In the United States, there has been a swell of interest in our content from smaller schools and colleges. To date, we have had over 150 smaller schools adopt our eResources, bringing critical academic content to students and faculty across North America.
Springer’s eBook model is widely considered one of the most liberal in the marketplace with no digital rights management, unlimited usage and concurrent users, and a liberal Inter-library loan allowance. All eBook purchases are truly one-time purchases backed by the confidence of Portico, LOCKSS, and CLOCKSS preservation.
Springer’s eBook content is indexed on the chapter level, allowing students and faculty to easily discover and access relevant content within a title. Faculty can quickly find chapters in a text and include them in a classroom assignment. Students can easily identify an entry in a larger reference work that is useful for a project and save or print it for later viewing. In keeping with our focus on discoverability, Springer has made certain that end-users can search at the chapter level (or deeper) at all points of entry. Our content is full-text indexed both on our platform and in Google (Books and Scholar) and we provide a Table of Contents field within our MARC records.
